The hardest thing I've ever done - but the view from base camp made it worth the climb

The hike up Volcan Acatenango is the hardest thing I've ever done in my entire life. I am in no way a hiking person but decided that this experience was a must. After a very steep climb up to base camp it got so foggy that it wasn't worth it for us continuing to the top. A bit disappointing, but the view from base camp next morning totally made it worth the climb. I was also very lucky since the next day there was a big eruption at Volcan Fuego next to Acatenango and the ones who were hiking up Volcan Acatenango that day had to evacuate in the dark
